My eucalyptus tree is emitting excessive sap

It is a large eucalyptus in our front yard that was trimmed about a year ago and has started dripping or oozing excessive sap that runs down and pools at the bottom. This has been going on for several months and I am noticing some vertical cracks along the trunk as well. We have seen a large green iridescent beetle that is attracted to the sap and have noticed some excessive sap on other eucalyptus in the area that have not been recently trimmed.

This is likely a Borer infestation and not a good diagnosis for the tree.
