My delphinium didn’t come back!!!!

My beautiful delphinium didn’t come back this year! It is 4 years old and has presented gorgeous blooms each year. This year it didn’t return. Any ideas?

Delphiniums can be a challenge; not all grow as perennials. Many are short-lived plants. Optimize the growing conditions as explained in the articles below.
