My Crepe Myrtle Will Not Bloom

Anonymous added on June 26, 2011 | Answered

My crepe myrtle is not blooming. It has plenty of sunshine and is only 3 years old, so I am wondering if I might need to add 'bone meal' around the tree to add phosphorus because my soil is pretty much clay. What is bone meal, and where do I purchase it?

Adding some phosphorus (bone meal) will not hurt. Here is an article or two that you may find helpful: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/crepe-myrtle/crepe-myrtle-not-blooming.htm

You may also want to amend your clay soil. This article will help with that: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/soil-fertilizers/how-to-improve-clay-soil.htm
