Q.My cactus soil holds moisture too long

Zone Mays Landing , NJ near Atlantic City | nancyc added on August 21, 2015 | Answered

I bought cactus potting soil but one of my cactus plants rotted in it already. I bought perlite to add to it and I want to add some pebbles to it also. So I added perlite and then I watered it and 2 days later they are still really moist. I thought maybe I should repot them again and not water them this time and also add some pebbles and then wait to water them. But I don’t know how long I should wait to water them. Am I doing anything right? Please help!

Cactus generally prefer to be in a small pot and don't need regular repotting.
A Cactus premix is available at most garden centers or you can make your own.
