Q.My Bobo Hydrangea Blooms Are Not Blooming At The Top

Zone 15037 | Jobrenn added on July 23, 2020 | Answered

I live in western pa. We have been having 90 degree weather for several weeks with little rain. I have been watering every several days. The blooms are not opening on the ends and they seem to have brown spots on them like dried bugs. Last year I had full beautiful blooms earlier than this year.

I am seeing signs of bacterial infection. Make sure that the soil dried, completely, down to about 2 or 3 inches between watering. This top soil layer is prone to bacterial and fungal infections from staying too moist for too long without a dry out period.

Depending on your soil type, the soil can appear dry on top but still wet just a little deeper.

I would recommend treating with a fungicide. This article will help:
