Q.My Bismark Palm Was Damaged In Hurricane Ian. Is It Dead??
It lost a lot of leaves. It recently had 3 shoots of berries come out but no leaves. My association thinks it’s dead and wants me to cut it down. How can I tell if it’s dead?

While it does look diseased, it does not look dead. A scratch test will confirm:

I would suggest replacement with a different species of palm if it does not recover, however.
