Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI have been growing an indoor avocado since July and it was growing like crazy, then we had some warm days so I thought it would be good to put it outside. Now the roots are black, so I repotted with new soil and cleaned the roots but when I repotted I saw the pit was like rotted and had tiny bugs inside – so I rinsed it. But after a few days, the pit totally fell off. My question is, is it ok if the pit falls off or is my avocado tree dead?

The emerging plant uses the pit as it’s food source, like the yolk of an egg. When the nutritional energy has been used, the pit falls off. If the roots of your plant are black, you have problems, but it isn’t because of the pit falling off.
