African violet

My African violet blooms regularly and beautifully but when I need to repot it, I noticed it has a long trunk and the bottom leaves that have gone bad have been pinched off. Is this normal? Also, when repotting, should I plant it deeper to cover the bear trunk? As the trunk is curved and the plant tends to lean. I am wondering if it is a spent plant and maybe I should just start over with new but its still blooming!

Growing a long neck is common for African Violets.
