fig tree with few branches or leaves

Question

My 5-year-old fig tree has 3 branches and very few leaves but is loaded with fruit, just as the 2 previous years. Why?

Fig trees are susceptible to some diseases.
Did the tree have leafs and then they dropped?
Any color changes in the leafs?
