Q.My 5-year-old dropmore scarlet honeysuckle has never bloomed. Need help please?
I have moved it once, but it has gotten at least 7 hours of sun all summer. The plant is huge and very prolific, but refuses to bloom. I bought another one and planted it nearby, thought that might work, but no luck. I have tried fertilizing and not fertilizing. I have never really trimmed it. I have all kinds of plants around it, bee balm, cosmos, cone flower, sweet pea, morning glory. They all do fine. Any ideas would be really appreciated. Beginning to really thrive this spring and looks really good, just no blossoms, although it is early yet. I am in zone 5a, sometimes 4!

This sounds like too much nitrogen in the soil. This can be offset by using phosphorus and potassium in the soil. These are often grouped into products known as bloom boosters, and should be used at 1/4 strength to start off. This is just to gauge your plant's response to the supplement.
Too much nitrogen causes very nice foliage, but will hinder bloom production. These vines also need regular watering, so be sure its getting enough water.
