Mustard Seed

Can you plant a mustard seed from the jar that comes in the spice section? I’m not sure if those seeds have been treated or if they will grow like any other seed. Thank you!

With culinary seeds, you never really know the age of the seeds, or their viability. Some are also heat treated to kill off insects and any bacteria, which would affect germination. Mustard can be grown from these seeds, but only if they are whole and fresh, Otherwise, you will not find much success. Nonetheless, you can still give it a go to see what happens. Many people have had luck growing them this way while others have not. Kinda like flipping a coin.
