Q.Mulching With Grass Clippings

Anonymous added on June 28, 2011 | Answered

My husband puts grass clippings around plants. Could this be causing my crepe myrtles to have leaves that look dry and burned and fall off the trees? The trees are not flowering and still have some of the old buds from last year on them.

Fresh grass clippings can in fact produce lots of heat and could therefore burn plants. While I am not sure if this is the problem, try holding off on the grass clippings to see if there is any improvement.
