mulching roses?

When mulching roses, do you put it close to the root or not? Is it a good idea to mulch them?

Mulch can touch the roots. This will be fine. Mulching is a good way to conserve moisture, help keep weeds down, and improve the look of the area. You can do this once per year, or once every two years.
