Can these plants be put outside in the summer out of direct sunlight? Also, what is the lowest temperature can these plants tolerate?

Yes, find a nice partial shady location for your plant.
Temperatures should be above 50 degrees F before you put it outdoors.
I would also move it to a sheltered area during rains, to avoid over watering if it remains in a pot.
