moss and reseeding

For the third year in a row, I have treated and killed the moss with lime and iron sulfate. It gets raked out of the garden. Then I add bagged top, fertilizer, more lime, and reseed with seed for a shady spot. Last year I even added humus to the mix of soil and lime. My husband has cut back limbs and even had two trees removed. This year I am right back where I started from, killing the moss. What am I doing wrong? What should I do this year – the moss is dead?

Have you had the soil tested? Your soil pH may be too acidic, which will inhibit grass growth and encourage the moss. If you have not yet read it, this article may help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/problems/weeds/killing-moss.htm [1]
