Mop Head Hydrangea Has Some Lacecap Heads

I was wondering if it is unusual to have heads of lacecap on a mop head hydrangea.

The Lacecap and the Mophead are both H. macrophylla. The Lacecap is just a different variant of the Mophead, and it is not impossible for Mopheads to grow sterile flowers in the center.

Here is an article that will offer more information on the care of this Hydrangea.
