Moon Cactus

Is it possible to nurse this one back to health. It’s my daughter’s cactus she named Daisy. Not sure if it limped over from too much water or lack of. What caused this. Can we heal it?

This is usually caused by a fungal infection. Mostly by overwatering, but it could just be present in the soil from the store if they had overwatered it. Sometimes this is unavoidable. This one will not be nursed back to health, and the colored cacti on top will not survive without a host cactus, since they do not produce their own chlorophyll. If you can find a dragon fruit cactus, you can graft it back onto that stalk and it will continue to grow. Otherwise, it will die on its own.
