How to bring full-sized green fruit pods to ripen? I had six but the fruit drops off the stalk before opening and ripening. Now there are five large, strong, green pods left. It sounds like you have a pollination problem. This plant has male and female flowers and tends to produce male and female flowers at different times (to prevent self pollination - basically plant inbeeding). If the female flower is not pollinated, the immature fruit will just drop off before it grows.
