Q.Monkey Puzzle Cutting
I have a 20ft is monkey puzzle tree in my front yard(came with the house). One of the cuttings I did has died, but the other one after 8 weeks in the pot is still kicking. For growing/cultivating, any advice or recommendations(mulch, morning sun, afternoon sun, et cetera) would be greatly appreciated. My house is a few degrees off from perfect North South East West orientation in the Kitsap Penisula of Washington State. Front of the house faces roughly east, and back of the house faces west. I put the cutting on the east facing side, but once it’s good and growing/staying alive, I intend on planting in the west facing side of the house, where the sun tends to stay longer in the summer. But the crux of the message is arranging survival of the cutting…so again..any advice on mulches and such, et cetera would be appreciated. Thanks again and keep up the website. it’s been helpful in other areas.

Here is info on caring for a monkey puzzle. They prefer full sun, so the west position is perfect. They also need well drained soil, and young trees need consistent moisture, so mulching the tree with organic mulch will help retain moisture.
