Q.Mold Or Not?

Zone Zagreb | Anonymous added on February 21, 2022 | Answered

I’m new to the plants/flowers world so I do not know much but I’m exploring and learing. I have a problem with my Anthurium and I can’t find solution on the internet, it has some aerial roots whitch looks like a mold? But I found videos on youtube with that same thing and people act like is normal, I mean they don’t mention it so maybe is not mold and it has to be like that? The Anthurium is 1 meter from south window, in room is from 18°C to 21°C, and humidity is aruond 55%, I was misting it with distilled water in the morning and water it when the soil is dry. So, the question is: is that mold/root rot? I’ll be so happy if you answer it and help me because I have nobody to ask ? And btw.sorry for my english, I’m from Croatia ? I wish you happy day! ?

This article says when the aerial roots are silvery gray, they are dry. When they are green, they are full of moisture. So yours are OK! You can mist your plant to increase humidity and that should help your dry aerial roots. Also make sure your potting soil is well draining, such as an orchid mix or add perlite to the existing soil.
