Miscanthus dying over Wisconsin winter

I have 6 miscanthus plants that still look dead. Was it a hard winter for them? Shouldn’t they be growing by now?

This is a warm-season grass, hardy to zones 5-9. The weather has been a bit on the weird side though, and it takes about 3 weeks or so of consistent warm temps to push the plants out of dormancy. It still may have life in it and may surprise you, so don’t give up just yet.
