does milkweed spread other than by seeds. last year i got 2 seedlings from several i started. one died, the other matured but didn’t bloom. this spring about 2 inches from where the seedling that died was i have another plant growing, and where the one plant matured i now have several at various stages of growth. if it spreads by runners or whatever can it be divided, should it be divided and if so when?

Common milkweed spreads by rhizomes (underground runners or roots) which is why it can be such an aggressive spreader.
Milkweed has a long tap root and does not do well in trying to transplant or divide.
