Milkweed

I planted two milkweed plants last spring. It’s now April, and they both have no leaves and appear to be dead sticks. The garden shop where I purchased them said sometimes it takes them well into spring to get green. I’m trying to teach my grandchildren to save the Monarch butterfly, and I’m concerned about their feelings.

Since Milkweeds bloom (generally) between June and August, yours could be right on time…or they might simply be taking some extra time to get going. Here is an article that may help you:
