mildew on peonies

This summer my peonies developed powdery mildew. Unfortunately, I was ill for several months and upon returning home the mildew had covered the entire plant. I immediately started spraying them, but as you know they only got worse. My question to you is: What do you recommend that I do with them over the winter? Should I pull them out and throw the dirt away? Should I throw the plants away and start over?? I have been gardening for many years and have never encountered
this disease.

Thank you for any help that you have to offer me.

Hi Dee. I would spray them down well with a product called Green Cure at the Cure Rate as listed on the label of the product. Then when they first poke their heads back up in the new growing season, spray them again with the Green Cure at the Cure Rate and spray them again at the first sign of the powdery mildew trying to come back. I have found Green Cure to be the best product on the market for getting rid of powdery mildew and some other funguses that attack our plants. Here is a link to their website with places to buy it: http://greencure.net/where_to_buy.asp [1]
