Q.Meyer Lemon Tree

Zone 33426 | Anonymous added on January 28, 2021 | Answered

I would like to buy a Meyer lemon tree but the website I was looking at says they don’t deliver these to Florida. They said “due to agricultural restrictions, we are not allowed to ship this specific tree to your state.” Am I not allowed to plant a lemon tree?

You certainly can plant a lemon tree, Meyer or otherwise. The Florida Dept. of Agriculture requires nurseries to be registered with the department as a way to prevent undesirable pests into the state.

The fact sheet below says to only buy Meyer lemons from a registered nursery. The next link gives a link to a list of all registered nurseries, so you can choose one of them to buy your lemon tree.

Good luck with your lemon tree!
