Mexican lime tree

Hello my name is priscilla romero and I’ve been having my key lime tree in a container I’ll insert a photo and my problem is I don’t want to plant it in the ground because I’m a renter and move every 5 to 7 years. My limes flower and start grow I get so so many flowers but they don’t stay on and if you shake my tree they will all fall off it’s so fragile however I’ve gotten two limes the first year and nothing the next 3 years untill now I’ve gotten one and I hope it stays!!! What can I do to make my limes stay on? What can I feed it or is my problem that it’s in a pot? The theee is about 3 – 4 feet tall.

They can survive quite easily in container. I would recommend a few things. Use dolomitic lime, and iron sulfate at least once per year… Twice is better. And feed with a citrus fertilizer at least once per year. This will keep it healthy and fruiting. It is also helpful to have as much light as possible. If this does not get outside time in full sun, then you will need to provide at least 200 watts of horticultural light for it to be able to bear fruit.
