Mealybugs on a Schefflera

Anonymous added on June 21, 2017 | Answered

Regarding mealybug infested Scheflerra, the article on your site says: "Then, using a solution of one part alcohol to three parts water with some dish soap (without bleach) mixed in, wash down the entire plant. Let the plant sit for a few days and repeat the process." What kind of alcohol should I use? rubbing alcohol?

Yes, rubbing alcohol.

Personally I would take this mixture and apply with the Q tip directly to the Mealybugs. Touch each one and make sure it's soaked. This is usually effective unless the plant is really covered with a large infestation.

Also, remember to move the infected plant away from any other plants to prevent the spread.
