Mealybug and wasp infestation

I have a copperleaf shrub that started with mealybugs a few months ago. The worst parts are the tips and near the base. I trimmed the tips and sprayed with horticultural oil. I didn’t stay on top of it and now have yellow jackets AND paper wasps! Now what? I’m mostly worried about my dogs but the shrub is right next to where I park my car! Help!

See these articles about mealybug control:

The yellow jackets and wasps are most likely there to feed on the mealybugs, as you’ve mentioned. Biological control with a certain ladybug (mentioned in the article) can be very effective. Another option is hard pruning the shrub to remove their food source.
