May I cut dry/brown leaves off the Cycad plant?

I moved into a new apartment with Cycads in the front garden. Their leaves are brown and dry. I realise they need fertilizer , but can I cut the dry leaves off to encourage new leave growth? They might not have been watered often , as the property was vacant for 6 mnths. I would love to help restore and heal them.

restoring the health of these is a careful process. Cutting the leaves will not force new growth. In fact, they are likely to sprout new growth if you leave those on.

If you can include photos, I can assist you in restoring these to health, but if you are uncertain of your expertise… These can be a bit sensitive to “extra” care, and too much care can kill them.
