For the last week or so, something is causing the leaves on tips of branches to fall, making a mess. I’m thinking it might be birds going after the little green pods. My question is, how long does this typically last. I live in Northern Virginia. The tree was mistakenly planted over 35 years ago in front of a townhouse with a small yard. I love it for its shade, but it is a messy tree and drives my next door neighbor nuts. I have tried to keep up with this leaf drop mess, but I’m wearing out!

Thanks for your help.

If birds are causing the leaf drop you can try placing things in the tree to scare off the birds. Some people hang cd's or aluminum pie plates in the tree to scare them.
