Q.Mature Cherry Tree infection
My mature cherry tree has been damaged by my neighbour when he hacked off a number of branches hanging over the fence and made a large gash in the trunk. The tree’s bark is now peeling off in large areas. What can I do to save it?
Thanks to all who replied to my question regarding my 'once lovely and very fruitful' Cherry Tree, I have been in touch with a tree surgeon who said the only thing I can do is chop the tree down as it has very large areas of disease in the trunk which are killing the tree. Such a shame!
Most bark damage can heal on it's own.
