March winds and plum trees

Is there any way to deter the wind from blowing the plums off of the tree? Is there anything I can use to cover the trees to keep the plums from blowing off?

Putting up a temporary physical barrier such as a screen or lattice next to the tree, in the direction the wind comes from, could help.

For a more permanent solution, think about planting a hedge or a few trees as a windbreak:

Or, you could set up a trellis structure with some vines growing on it to block the wind.
