I notice that all of the growth has been cut off. This will usually result in the death of the plant. The male flowers are, more than likely, the last ditch effort to spread the genetics of the plant before it passes.

There does appear to be replacement pups coming out nearby. Once the large stalk dies back completely, that will be the new pup that takes over. It will be starting over fresh, from the beginning again.
