How close to a home can you plant magnolias?

Most magnolias should be planted at least 20 feet away from a house to prevent any damage. Some of the smallest dwarf varieties, like Little Gem, can be planted as close as 10 feet away from the house. Check the mature height and spread of the tree to make sure it will fit in the space.
