magnolia tree w/borers and no bark

There must be some help. Did not realize in time that the bark was eaten off my magnolia tree. Now there are borers in the trunk. What can I spray that won’t be harmful to animals? This tree flowered this summer but now is having trouble. Can I seal the tree after I spray?

In mild cases of tree borers there is chemical treatment, but generally in cases that have severe damage the tree cannot be saved.
