Magnolia shrub with white growths

I have a magnolia bush that is about 15 years old that has recently formed white growths on a lot of the limbs. Some of the leaves are starting to wither and die. The bush is attracting large numbers of flies and is not well. Does anyone know what this is and if I can save the shrub? My email address is mcmcdowell@sbcglobal. That is one of many wood rotting fungi. They may or may not fruit, but it will be hard to pin exactly what it is at this time.

It will likely result in the death of the tree. An Arborist will be able to offer assistance with removing the tree, and treating the area.
