Magnolia covered in leaves but not flowered

hello, I have bought a Magnolia tree (Galaxy) from a shop for my mum on the mothers day. It had some buds, but no flowers, so I thought it will bloom soon, buts May now, and there wasn’t a single flower on it, but its covered in green leaves now. Why did it not bloom? Thank you
