Keep up with the soil fertility, mulching and watering program. You may need to adopt a comprehensive pest management program that starts with sanitation (picking up and disposing of fallen nuts), dormant spray in winter to suppress overwintering eggs and larvae, spring and summer preventive spaying periodically according to product directions, with botanical pest repellent like 70% neem oil or Azadirachtin neem seed extract.
