Q.Love Lies Bleeding

Zone 5 | 5252 added on July 1, 2013 | Answered

I purchased 4 LLB established plants and have transferred them to ceramic pots. . . 1/pot. They have begun to flower; however, the flowers do not look as robust as in the on-line pictures. The flower is not as dark and it is skinnier. They do get the AM sun and some PM sun until 2. Should I fertilze it, or move them so they get full sun all day?

There are different varieties of amaranthus, and different cultivars within each variety, each having varying color and texture flowers. Your plants will exhibit best color, texture and form if given full sun. Fertilization will help produce optimum bloom. Use a well balanced fertilizer, like 20-20-20, according to package directions.
