Q.Long grass

Zone Kent | Kydhol added on July 20, 2016 | Answered

We have a 2 acre garden. At the beginning of the year, we decided to leave 1 acre to grow wild. We have kept mown a few paths through the centre of the field. We are wondering what to do with it now. It is very tall and we have several red ants and nests. Should we cut it? How would we cut it as it is now so long? Can we just leave it to go through the autumn/winter? What would that look like next spring/summer? If we did manage to cut it, what do we do with all the cut grass – that will be an awful lot?!

Any help and advice very welcome.
Holly

The idea behind a 'no mow' yard or landscape, is not to mow.
