living in the woods, my plants do very well in the spring through summer, but since we live on wooded property, by fall, when

the morning sun is coming up through the trees, there is much less light and gradually my plants start losing most of their leaves. I am not fertilizing and watering much less. what would you suggest? I have tried plant lights but to no avail. So I don’t know if I got the wrong type lights or what. I have a spider plant, pothos, philodendron, ivy and dracaena. Lately my African violets are the only ones that do okay.

Since you live in Michigan, I’m guessing you bring those plants in for the winter. When fall approaches, why not go ahead and bring them inside. They should be brought in when temperatures hover around 50 degrees F (10 C). Be sure to hose them off for critters before bringing them inside.
