Lime tree with yellow leaves, dropping baby fruit

My housemate bought a nice lime tree and potted it a large terra cotta pot. It is next to the south-facing wall of the house, which IMO is a poor location: very hot, in an “ell” where two walls meet, and only 3′ from the wall.

She waters it very shallowly. I’ve demonstrated how to deep water it less frequently, but she persists. (When I water it, LOTS of bubbles come up from the root mass.) It dries out frequently, seems to need something added to the soil. I think it should be moved.

Does it need fertilizer? Should it be moved? Should I give up? 🙁

8 hours of sunlight and proper moisture are necessary for a potted lime tree.
