Lime Tree Growth

I have two lime trees, which are about 4 years old. Recently, I have found that all the branches have small bumps towards the end of the branches and all the leaves have dropped on the top of the tree, now just stems. These small bumps appear to be in the branch itself and look like small bulb tree bases. I believe this may be a disease or possibly some sort of pest. Could you please advise me on what this could be and how, if any way, there is of treating it?

It sounds like you may have scale insect problem. Take a look at this article for some solutions: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/scale-bug-how-to-control-plant-scale.htm [1]

Neem oil is an effective treatment. Here is more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/pesticides/neem-oil-uses.htm [2]
