Lime Tree

I have a healthy lime tree. I covered the tree with netting during bloom and had heavy clusters of fruit. The limes are now 1″ in diameter and are gradually disappearing from the tree, but are not dropped on the ground. What birds/animals eat immature limes? I am in the Clearwater/Gulf area of West Florida. Thank you!

It could be possums or rats. The roof rat in particular is an inhabitant of florida ( [1]). Sometimes even cockatoos, parrots and other birds will eat the fruit. These are all identified as common citrus pests in the following article:
