Q.Lilac Bloomed Purple For Years Then Gradually Started Blooming White. Why?
My wife and I have had a lilac that bloomed purple for years, then it gradually started blooming white. Now it blooms nicely, but the blooms are white. How can we get it to bloom purple again? It does sit near a large evergreen tree (like 60 feet tall). Some research indicated that the evergreen can be turning the soil ph to too acidic and to add lime to the soil to lower the ph. What kind of fertilizer should I use? It has never been fertilized. Any ideas?

Likely, it could be due to soil pH, but if it has never been fed, then this would have something to do with it as well.
Alternatively, plants' flowers will fade with age. Sometimes this is not preventable.
