Lettuce Seeds

My Daughter had great luck with lettuce this year – one plant looks like it has gone to seed. She cut off a portion but I am not sure where the seed is. This portion has not flowered yet. Are the seeds in the flower? Thanks for your help.

No. The flower needs to form and finish. After this, the seed pods will swell and release seeds. Unfortunately, once the flower spike is cut off, the lettuce is no longer productive. The plant should be discarded at this point. Starting from fresh seed will be the best option from here.
