When it comes to growing, pruning, or picking the figs of a fig tree, how important are the leaves, and what important part do they play in the growth process?

Leaves are important to a tree, fig or otherwise, because they help the tree produce food and energy. The tree needs this to produce healthy fruit and for its overall health. While pruning some branches and leaves away is fine, you should never remove more than 1/3 in a season, as this can affect the plant’s overall health and ability to fruit.
