Q.Leaf Issues!

Zone Australia | Anonymous added on November 15, 2021 | Answered

Hello, Thank you first of all for any help you can provide! I’ve attached photos for reference. So a few questions; 1) My plant’s leaves used to be vibrant deep pink (see pic from Jan 2020), but now have turned a pale apricot – I believe it was due to lack of adequate sun. Will the colour return? And if yes, how long will it take roughly? 2) Since putting it in the sun, 2-3 leaves have sprouted which are not as bright or pink as the others used to be, but still red & glossy. The old leaves are very matte. Is it possible to get the shine back? 3) How do I get rid of ‘water spots’ on the leaves? 4) Is it correct to water it with 2 cups of water once a week? 5) The leaves that are now dulled/not as pretty as the pink ones – can I cut them off at the stem, or will this cause trauma to the plant? Do you have any other advice for me?

You don't say what kind of plant it is, but generally, plants do best when the soil is allowed to dry out between waterings, rather than watering on a schedule. Add enough water to allow the excess to run out the holes in the bottom of the container. If there is a tray under the plant, be sure to empty any water that collects.

Avoid getting water on the leaves to prevent water spots. The color and shine should return once the plant is getting its best cultural conditions.
