Layering Mix Bulbs for Seasonal Blooms

We have recently installed two large planters on our property. One will be in full sun and is round, and it centered from our front door. The other is rectangular and will be in shade most of the day. We would like to layer a mix of bulbs in the round planter so that something is always blooming. I envision a mass of mums, tulips, and periwinkles for that planter if they are a good mixed bulb choice. I am not sure about the shaded rectangular planter. I like hostas but, something to complement it would be nice. Plant height is an issue for both. The top of the rectangular planter is level with our carport. Your recommendations for both new planters will be appreciated. We live in zone 7.

No need to limit yourself to just bulbs. There are a number of plants that can be used to create year-round interest, so something can always be in bloom (or at least eye catching). This article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/special/spaces/designing-four-season-gardens.htm [1]
