Is corn gluten an effective emergent against germinating weeds, and how long after applying can grass seed be planted?

There are both positive and negative reviews for corn gluten meal. It appears to stop newly germinated plants from developing roots but not affect older plants. Seed should not be sown for 6 weeks although check the specific product’s information on the container. Both timing and weather are crucial factors in success with corn gluten meal.
